Eligibility requirements
Membership is open to any Kenyan citizen who meets the following conditions under the Political Parties Act, Cap. 7F.
Must hold a valid Kenyan national ID card or passport.
The constitutional minimum age for party membership in Kenya.
Must not be a registered member of any other political party.
Must agree to the party constitution and code of conduct.

Check Your Eligibility

Complete the Recruitment Form
Form PPM1Provide the particulars required by Form PPM1, including your name, postal and physical address, and national ID or passport number. The party also captures contact and location details needed to manage your membership.
Give Consent and Declarations
Consent recordedConfirm the application is voluntary, declare that you are not a member of another party, accept the party rules, and choose your communication preferences.
Party Verification
Party reviewAn authorised party officer reviews the application for completeness, checks identity and contact details, confirms the appropriate branch, and resolves duplicate or conflicting records.
Approval and IPPMS Transmission
Registrar recordAfter approval, the party adds the application to its membership list and transmits the required particulars to the Registrar through IPPMS for entry in the membership register.
Activation and Ongoing Service
Active membershipThe party confirms your membership number and branch. You can then update details, manage consent, renew or transfer membership, access your record, or begin the documented exit process.

Common questions
Can I be a member of Linda Mwananchi and another party at the same time?
No. Under the Political Parties Act, a Kenyan may not simultaneously be a member of more than one registered political party. Dual membership is grounds for immediate cancellation.
How long before my membership is activated?
Timing depends on whether the application is complete, whether any conflicting membership record must be resolved, and when the approved membership list is transmitted through IPPMS. The party should communicate the status at each stage.
Can I transfer my membership to a different branch?
Yes. Ask the party to update your physical address and organizational assignment. The party must keep its membership list accurate and current and retain a history of the change.
What happens if I don't renew on time?
Renewal and lapse rules are determined by the party constitution and approved fee schedule. Before paying, confirm the current amount, deadline and reinstatement process with the party.
Is there a minimum age to join?
The minimum age is 18 years, in line with Kenya's Constitution and the Political Parties Act. Youth membership applies to members aged 18–35.
How do Diaspora members exercise their rights?
Diaspora members participate through the party's approved diaspora structure and the participation methods provided in the party constitution and election rules.
How can I check or resign from political-party membership?
ORPP provides membership services through eCitizen, IPPMS and USSD *509#. A resignation may also be made through written notice to the party and the Registrar as provided by law.
